FREE Kindle Healthy Lifestyle eBooks! New! with pictures! Sunday Edition

New and improved Sunday eBook List!!   Pictures of each book as links to Amazon Kindle! Friday and Saturday are still the best days for free books but there’s still a few good ones today and I thought it would be a good day to try the list with pictures.

Let me know if you prefer it this way or without pictures.

I love free Kindle eBooks from Amazon! I just checked I have over 400! It is a great way to find great recipes and health information. Many of these are in my own library but I will admit I haven’t read them all. There may be some that don’t follow my  dietary restrictions but sometimes a quick ingredient swap is all they need. I look at it as great reference and they provide me with great ideas and information. Sometimes I just save the recipes I like from these free eBooks to my database for quick reference later.

Don’t have a Kindle? No problem, just set up one of Kindle’s Free Reading Apps like Kindle for PC and save them to your computer, or if you don’t have the extra storage space, there is also Kindle Cloud Reader where you can keep them online. You will have to first set up an Amazon account if you don’t already have one but it’s free and easy too.

I will be checking the post randomly over the weekend to try and keep it up to date. I usually seem to start out with 50+ free ebooks but things can change in minutes.  I guess the quicker you are, the more likely they are to still be free. Sorry if they changed the pricing, sometimes it happens so fast I can’t even believe it!

Please check before downloading to make sure the eBooks are still free, the prices can change at any time. Each picture and title are direct links to the eBook on Amazon.com.

In case you’re wondering…no I don’t make any money if you click on the books, I just want to provide you with a great resource of FREE healthy lifestyle information.

Enjoy!!

Sprouted Bean Trio Hummus

TruRoots Organic Sprouted Bean Trio Hummus

TruRoots Organic Sprouted Bean Trio appeared at Costco here in Calgary not too long ago. You know how Costco is, if they don’t sell enough volume, the product disappears so I figured I better find something to make with it and share it with my fellow Costco shoppers.

This is a blend of nutritious sprouted lentils, mung and adzuki beans. Sprouting boosts the nutritional profile of the beans by increasing vitamins and micronutrients. The process of sprouting pre-digests the complex proteins, starches and lipids, converting them into simple and essential components which in turn make them easier for us digest. TruRoots uses low temperature drying to maintain the nutritional value achieved from the sprouting. They are also lower in sodium and higher in nutrition than canned beans. And one of the best parts is that there is no pre soaking and they are ready in 15 minutes!

This is even more nutritious than the standard chickpea hummus and in my opinion is tastier too. This simple recipe is gluten free, diary free, sesame free and is high in protein making it a great veggie or cracker dip.

TruRoots Organic Sprouted Bean Trio Hummus ( Sesame Free)

By Dawn Valcourt

Ingredients:

1 cup TruRoots Organic Sprouted Bean Trio

3 cups   water

2/3 cup extra virgin olive oil

1/3 cup fresh lemon juice

1 ½ tsp  salt

1 tsp      cumin

1/2 tsp  paprika

1/8 – 1/4 tsp cayenne

1/3 cup raw sunflower seeds

1-2          clove garlic

Directions:

Combine beans with water in a medium saucepan. Bring to boiling over medium heat. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 10 minutes. Drain and cool.

In a food processor combine the cooled, drained beans, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, cumin, paprika and cayenne, process until smooth. Add in sunflower seeds and garlic cloves and process a bit longer.

Transfer to a covered container and store in refrigerator for up to a week.

Makes about 2 ½ cups of hummus.

Simple Creamy Dill Dressing

Dips and dressings are something that I have missed in my dairy-free diet but this one  is so creamy it will get anyone to believe it’s the real thing.

I don’t use Vegenaise often as it is a bit over processed for my liking, but I don’t react to it, and it is worth having in the fridge. Nancy’s Cultured Soy (what I call Fauxgurt) is made from non GMO soy beans and is also organic, gluten-free and kosher. It takes a bit of getting used to when it comes to the color ( it’s kind of a tan color) but cultured products are very good for gut flora and if you can’t have dairy, it is a great way to continue getting probiotics in your diet. I use it to make a few things, so I’ll share more with you later.

(soon I’ll get pictures for you too!)

Creamy Dill Dressing

By Dawn Valcourt, http://www.healthynewdawn.com

This makes a great veggie dip, salad dressing, pasta sauce or spread. Just adjust the amount of water to get the consistency you need.

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp Organic Vegenaise

2 Tbsp Nancy’s Cultured Soy

dash of Garlic Powder

1/4-1/2 tsp dried dill (to taste)

Pepper to taste

Water

Directions:

  • In a small bowl mix Vegenaise and cultured soy, stirring until smooth.
  • Add seasonings to taste.
  • Add water to dilute to desired consistency.
